THE DOER AND THE THINKER. - Agnes Ama Afful

Ali and David were friends at the university who dreamed of starting their own businesses after graduation. Ali who was skilled in fixing gadgets wanted to own a big repair shop at the heart of Accra. David also wanted to sell anything he could get as he wasn’t as skilled as Ali.

After graduation, the boys set off on their different parts and lost contact.  20 years down after, Ali was working with a retail shop as their manager. He sent his car to a workshop one day and there was David fixing peoples car. The boys had a good time reconnecting and Ali bragged about his job and all his accomplishments. David was happy for him and told him about his own business- The car shop. David had started as a bicycle repairer after school and learnt more skills to own one of the biggest car repair shops in the country. He asked Ali why he failed to set up his company as they both promised.

Ali had some money from his family after graduation, and decided to save it whiles he thought about a plan to start his business. He saved it for 5 years and when he decided to go for the money to start the business, the bank had collapsed.

David told him how he started his with the money he got and despite his failures, he kept on learning and persisting till this day. He told Ali, sometimes a stitch in time is worth more than a thousand years.
