THE HISTORY OF THE NORTHERN UNION OF THE SS. THOMAS MORE AND JOHN FISHER CATHOLIC CHURCH
The name of the Northern Union is St. Francis Xavier. It consists of Northerners from the three Northern Regions; Upper East, Upper West and the Northern Regions.
This Union was formed on the 30th of August, 1992 on the advice of the then parish priest of St. Thomas More, Rev. Fr. Gabriel Charles Palmer Buckle, who is now the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra.
His idea was that all ethnic groups in the parish should form societies or unions to be recognized or identified in the church.
For that matter the Northern union was formed with some few members, who from the beginning were very active. The first executives elected were;
Shortly, their term of office was taken over by another executive board due to their transfer to new locations of their jobs and residences far away from Accra and from the church. The second executive board were;
In 2004, another executive board assumed office. The executives were;
They served for 7 years. On the 5th of June, 2011 another executive board took over. The executives were;
Miss Vida Bore took over from Mr. Charles Addah in February, 2015 because of his ill health. In March that same year, adjustments were made on the executive council making the following secretary, vice secretary and assistant treasure respectively;
