Catholic Students Union

BACKGROUND INFORMATION ABOUT CASU, ST.  THOMAS MORE CHURCH

The Catholic Student Union existed in various parishes but it was not until the early 1990s that it was formed at the Diocesan level and admitted into the Accra (Diocesan) but now Archdiocesan Catholic Youth Council. St. Thomas More CASU was started somewhere in the 1990s. It has been one of the vibrant youth groups in the church. The group was re – inaugurated on 22nd August 2010 by Rev. Fr. David Amissah Andoh after it became dormant for some period of time. The union has St. Thomas Aquinas as its Patron Saint.

Aims
The Catholic Student Union (CASU) has the following aims:

  1. To bring catholic students under one umbrella for the effective and efficient co-ordination of their activities.
  2. It seeks to help all catholic students in the parish to grow spiritually, mentally, socially, economically etc.
  3. To promote the catholic faith

Membership
It is open to all ladies and gentlemen who are Catholics – from primary six to the tertiary level
and those who can read and write and are engage in apprenticeships as well as those who are working.

Age Requirement
Open to all ages.

Slogan
The slogan of the union is “CASU – All for Christ

Meeting Day
The union meets on the 4th Sunday of every month after the 1st mass at St. Thomas More at the Sunday school square.
