1st Reading: Am 7:12-15

Amaziah priest of the sanctuary in Bethel expels Amos from the land for prophesying against the king and the people. The prophet’s response is that he is only doing as he has been commended by God.

 

2nd Reading: Eph 1:3-14

God has blessed us in Christ with all the blessings of heaven. And it is through Christ that we have been redeemed and our sins forgiven. Praised be his name.

 

Gospel: Mk 6:7-13

Jesus sends the twelve out two by two. They are to travel light, live on the hospitality of their audience and preach repentance.

 

Reflection

Bringing the message of Christ to others is not an easy task. It may bring rejection and even persecution. But the one called to preach the word must remain docile and trust in the Lord.
