Though it is a difficult mission, Yahweh's servant will succeed as God reveals him as the light of the nations.

2nd Reading: Acts 13:22-26

The message and testimony of John the Baptist concerning Jesus, descendant, as savior, is for all generations.

Gospel: Lk 1:57-66,80

When the time of his circumcision came, Elizabeth declared that her child is to be named John. Zechariah confirms the name through signs and immediately, his speech is restored.

Reflection

As disciples of Christ, we are called to know Christ and his love, and sent to make him known. Living this vocation brings us greatness. John the Baptist is great because he made himself insignificant that Jesus may take precedence over his life.
