On this significant day in the life of the church, Easter Sunday, we rejoice in the victory of our Lord Jesus Christ over death. His resurrection, accomplished through the redeeming power of His blood, dispels the darkness of sin that once overshadowed humanity. As Catholics, we celebrate this occasion with profound joy, steadfast in our belief in the power of our Lord. We must not overlook the significance of Mary Magdalene's initial doubt and fear. However, we must also recognize that she momentarily forgot the authority of the man she loved and believed in—Jesus, who possesses power over all, including death and sin. Upon discovering the empty tomb and witnessing the stone rolled away, Mary's initial reaction was one of sadness and confusion, prompting her to inform the other disciples.  In contrast to Mary's initial reaction, our faith in the resurrection of Jesus should mirror that of the disciple John. Having personally witnessed the evidence of Christ's absence from the tomb, John's belief transcended mere affection for his Lord. He embraced the prophecy of Jesus' resurrection with unwavering faith. As we commemorate Easter, let us reflect on the profound significance of Christ's resurrection. Our proclamation and faith in Him are not in vain, for His triumph over death assures us of eternal hope and redemption.
