Title: “THE LENTEN SPIRITUAL JOURNEY”
Quote: Mk 1:12-15

As we embark on the Season of Lent, which commenced with Ash Wednesday, consisting of 40 days dedicated to Fasting, Prayer, and Almsgiving, in preparation for the joyous celebration of the Lord's resurrection at Easter, our Holy Father encourages us to meditate on the theme, "Throughout the Desert, God Leads Us to Freedom." This theme invites us to reflect on our Lenten journey, drawing parallels with the desert where Jesus, filled with the spirit of God, prepared for his ministry (Mark 1:12-15). In our contemporary era, the desert is not necessarily a physical place but a spiritual expedition. It could involve a personal retreat, seeking spiritual direction, making a conscious commitment to accompany Christ on the path to the cross every Friday, recognizing the importance of fasting, prayer, and acts of charity, and concluding the journey with a meaningful confession. Furthermore, this spiritual desert journey serves as an opportunity to rediscover our true identity as Christians. Amidst the chaos and societal corruption, it is easy to lose sight of our identity, becoming slaves to societal influences. Let us not merely let the Season of Lent pass by; instead, let us make it memorable by seizing the opportunities it offers to deepen our spirituality, reconcile with God and the Church, find inner peace, and celebrate the paschal mystery of Christ with joy.
