Date: Thursday, 5th April, 2012
Author: Rev. Fr. George Obeng Ampah

1st Reading: Is 50:4-7

The prophet suffers in carrying out his mission, but continues to trust that God will eventually save him.

2nd Reading: Phil 2:6-11

Phil 2:6-11. Because Jesus took on himself our human condition and accepted death on a cross, the Father has made him Lord of heaven and earth.

Gospel: Mk 14:1 – 15:47

St. Mark stresses the cruel trial and the shocking details of our Lord's suffering. But a sudden light appears when a pagan soldier makes a profession of faith in the crucified Son of God.

Reflection

He left his kingdom; he suffered humiliation; he suffered death; out of love for a sinful world. This is the price our savior had to pay for love. We are often moved with pity as we read of the gruesome murder of the Son of Man on Palm Sunday and on Good Friday. He is an innocent man! , He doesn’t deserve to be treated that way! Some even shed tears out of pity for Him. The Lord doesn’t need our tears. What He needs is our response to His love expressed in our total conversion. The soldiers nailed Him once but we nail Him daily. We hold in our hands the nails and hammer of crucifixion. Are we going to crucify Him again and again or we are going to crucify our sins? I pray you make a lovely choice.
