Theme: Take Courage: Christ Stands Beside You

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

In our first reading, Paul stands before men who want answers, but what they really want are sides. Pharisees on one side. Sadducees, on the other hand. One group believes in the resurrection; the other denies it completely. And in the middle of all that noise, Paul says something bold: “I am on trial for hope in the resurrection of the dead.”

That line changes everything. Because Paul refuses to let the argument stay political, ideological, or tribal. He takes the whole conflict and brings it back to the one thing that matters most: resurrection. Hope. Jesus Christ alive.

We live in a world obsessed with sides. Everyone wants to know where you stand, who you agree with, what label you carry. People divide over politics, Church issues, culture, opinions, even over things that should never become battle lines. And somewhere in the middle of all that noise, many Christians forget what we are actually about. We are not here merely to win arguments. We are here because Jesus rose from the dead. That is the center. That is the reason we gather. That is the reason martyrs died. That is the reason Paul could stand calmly in chaos. His hope was not in people understanding him. His hope was not in success. His hope was not even in survival. His hope was in the risen Christ.

And notice something beautiful in this passage. Paul is surrounded by conflict, falsely accused, physically threatened, uncertain about tomorrow. Yet that very night, the Lord stands beside him. I think sometimes we imagine courage means not feeling afraid. But biblical courage is different. Courage is hearing the voice of Christ in the middle of fear and continuing forward anyway.

Some of us right now are standing in our own courtroom. Maybe not literally, but spiritually. Maybe you feel surrounded by pressure, confusion, criticism, loneliness, temptation, disappointment. Maybe your faith feels costly. Maybe you’re tired of carrying the weight of trying to stay faithful in a divided world.

And today Jesus says the same thing to you that He said to Paul: “Take courage.” Because He stands beside you.

The world does not need more angry Christians. It needs Christians who live with resurrection hope. People who are calm in storms. People who forgive when it costs them. People who love when it is inconvenient. People who remember that eternity is real.

That was Paul. And that is what we are called to become.

Prayer: Jesus, when life becomes loud and confusing, help us remember what matters most. Teach us to place our hope not in arguments, success, or approval, but in Your resurrection. Stand beside us in our fears and give us courage to remain faithful. May our lives witness to the hope that death is defeated and that You are truly alive. Amen.
