Theme: Is My Faith Built on Rock or Sand?

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Let us begin with a simple question. If a strong storm came tonight and hit your house, would you feel safe? Most of us would say, “Yes, if the foundation is strong.” Jesus uses that exact example in today’s Gospel.

He speaks about two builders. One builds his house on rock. The other builds his house on sand. The same rain falls. The same floods come. The same winds blow. But only one house remains standing. Why? Because of the foundation.

Now let me ask another question. What is the foundation of your life?

Notice something important in the Gospel. Jesus does not say that storms come only to bad people. The storm comes to both houses. In life, everyone faces storms. There will be sickness. Disappointments. Family struggles. Failures. Moments of loneliness. The question is not, “Will storms come?” The question is, “What am I standing on when they come?”

Jesus says something even more challenging. “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father.” In other words, faith is more than words.

Let me ask you: Is it enough to call Jesus “Lord”? No. Is it enough to come to Mass but never forgive others? No. Is it enough to know prayers but never live them? No. Jesus is telling us that true faith is hearing His word and putting it into practice.

Imagine a person who knows every prayer by heart but refuses to love his neighbor. Another person knows little theology but sincerely tries to forgive, serve, and follow Jesus every day. Who is building on rock? The one who puts God’s word into action.

Every day we are building our spiritual house. Every prayer is a brick. Every act of kindness is a brick. Every sacrifice for God is a brick. Every choice to forgive is a brick. Little by little, Jesus builds a strong foundation in us.

Today, Jesus asks each one of us: “Are you only listening to My words, or are you living them?” Because a faith that stays in the head will not survive the storm. A faith that reaches the heart and changes our actions becomes a house built on rock.

Let us choose today to build our lives on Christ, the Rock that never fails.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are the Rock on which I want to build my life. Help me not only to hear Your words but to live them every day. When storms come, keep me close to You. Strengthen my faith, deepen my trust, and make my life a witness to Your love. May my heart rest on the foundation that never shakes – You alone. Amen.
