The Main Choir

The Saints Thomas More and John Fisher Catholic Church choir started way back when the church started as an outstation. When the old military armory was acquired from the colonial administration and placed under the Kpehe Parish and renovation works started, some few younger literate members from the communities decided to form a choir and named it St. Thomas More Choir.
The group comprised mostly the Kwami and the Dzagbo families, notably Suzie Kwami, Peter and Benedictus Dzagbo, Mr. B.C.
Mensah and Mr. Awubawuni, Mr. Emmanuel Torgah, the late Mr. Paul Tetteh and Mr. Vincent Artiso who was the main organizer.
An old pipe organ was acquired and Mr. Awuya was employed to play the organ even though he was not a Catholic. Mr. Okeke started teaching the choir English songs, whiles Mr. B.C. Mensah thought Latin songs. Mr. Dorwona from the Holy Spirit Cathedral, a veteran organist took over from Mr. Awuya.
When Rev. Fr. O’Sullivan left to Ireland, a Diocesan Priest Rev. Fr. Joseph Addy took over. He did a lot to improve the choir and the parish in general. He taught songs in English and Latin after Mass and the choir grew in membership.
The choir went through some challenging moments which affected its membership. It led to the partial collapse of the choir.
Some old members decided to come together with some new members to revive the choir.
The choir enjoyed the support of Rev. Fr. Charles Parlmer -Buckle when he took over from the late Rev Fr. Addy as the Priest- in-charge. Presently the executives are made up of the following: President Mrs. Marianne Dzagbo, Vice President Mr. James Adzewoda Amegbletor, Secretary Miss Naomi Tagoe, Assistant Secretary Miss Perpetual Amenedzi, Financial Secretary Miss Edith Koviwoh, Treasurer Miss Victoria Abalo, choir Mother Miss Salome Edu, Organists, Mr. Raphael Kwaning, Mr. Stephen Dadzie, Choir Master Mr. deRoy Sackey, and Mr. Jones Apedo is the choir representative on the Church Pastoral Council.
